I have searched and searched for an alternative to relaxing. I love
it the day it is relaxed but after that I wish all this hair was on
someone else's head. I never considered locks until I came across
Sisterlocks and I am glad I did. I am not into cutting the hair it
has taken me so long to grow(a little past my shoulders and very
thick). Every summer I go thru the ritual of braiding my hair for
vacation and swimming. I like the get up and go daily routine. I
have set an initial session with someone in my area and I can not
wait. I would like to thank the creator of this goup 4 the valuable
in4mation displayed. I would also like to thank all the members that
have provided pictures. Once I start my journey I will 2 provide
pictures.
Thanks 4 opening my eyes
Tara

What is the texture of your hair? Is it course, thick, wavy, etc.? When these
questions are answered, maybe someone will be able to help your further. What
type of styles did you have in mind, are you trying to go natural (afro,
two-stand twists, locks)?

Re: [LockItUp] Bajan Test Locks and their kinks

This is normal. This is the purpose of the test locks.... to see how your
hair reacts to the various patterns. This will allow your consultant to
select the best pattern for your hair.
Isn't it amazing to watch how your hair changes? If you're intrigued by
this, just wait until your entire head is locked. You'll truly be amazed!

Bajan Test Locks and their kinks

2008-12-04 10:02:31

Hi All,
Days into living in my Bajan test locks, I have noticed something
curious beginning to take shape. My consultant told me she was
putting in 2 patterns that she found worked best in my texture of
hair. I can already feel a difference with one pattern versus the
other. One pattern has begun to fold back into the wave pattern and
the test locks are 'S-ing' at the root (getting an S shaped in the
first inch of hair). Meanwhile, the other pattern is basically
straight with a very very slight body wave in the lenght of the
entire (3) locks. I am not concerned or worried about this, but I
thought it curious enough to put this event out here (my research
hasn't and couldn't touch on this, as we are all unique).
Has anyone noticed this in their first step of the package? I
should mention that I am going for smaller locks (600 - 700). Do
let me know. I will work on some pictures for a little future diary.

Re: Up Do

Thanks Missy,
My locs are not as long as I'd like for them to be, but long enough
to have achieved this style. My stylist made two twists, instead of
one, which is what they taught us at the Sisterlocks Homecoming
Conference workshop I attended on Loc Styling.
She did not use alot of pins, either, because I was not in any
pain. That was one of the things I remembered about getting French
Rolls, the pain from all the darn hairpins. She twisted the
sections up into the roll on each side, if you look at the photo of
my side shot, you can see a little twist being pulled into the
roll. Similar to doing flat twists. I don't think she began
putting hair pins in until she got up to the top. She, then, rolled
the loose locs on rods. She left one or two locs out at my nape and
on the sides, to simulate the tendril look. Overall, I was very
pleased and impressed with my new look. Everyone that saw me, made
comments, because I never wear my hair styled so fancy! I think it
impresses non-loc wearers and non-natural hair wearers with the
versatility we have with our style!!

CC!!! Gurl you look STUNNING! I love that updo and once you put on
the whole ensemble, WOW!!
How does your m-i-l feel about your SL's? Didn't seeing your hair
look so gorgeous make her wish SHE had them?
Very beautiful. Now, were your curls acheived with an iron or
rollers?

CC's latest up-do

2008-12-02 23:34:46

Hello All,
I just added some new photos to my pictures folder in the Files
section. I had my stylist do an up-do for me for an evening out!
Please excuse my dry-a$$ lips. It's cold up here in NY and my lips
have had a horrible winter! On the upside, my locs have not! They
haven't been dry at all! Can't you see all that sheen up in them
Sisterlocks!! Just to let you know that my lips don't always look
that way, I uploaded a photo with my face on!!
